The enhanced co-operation measure regarding a joint EU position on divorce will be discussed during a meeting of EU justice and home affairs ministers in Brussels today Friday (25 July).
Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson is asking: “Considering that Alternattiva Demokratika have been asking for the introduction of divorce legislation in Malta for the past 16 years, considering that MLP leader Joseph Muscat has declared himself in favour of divorce three months ago; considering that Minister John Dalli declared that it is time to tackle this issue in Malta three weeks ago and considering that Prime Minister Gonzi agreed 2 weeks ago that time is ripe to start the discussion, what is the position Justice and Home affairs Minister Carmelo Mifsud Bonnici will take in Brussels today?”.
