Hand Washing Campaign Artwork Competition

15th October shall mark the 5th anniversary of Global Handwashing Day and the Malta Medical Students’ Association (MMSA) will be celebrating this event by organising an inter-school Art Competition entitled ‘Handwashing’, targeting students in Junior 4, 5 and 6. The importance of hand hygiene and its role in preventing diseases is often taken for granted. The aim of this event is therefore to encourage the practice of proper handwashing as an effective tool in preventing infections and to persuade youngsters to incorporate this as part of their routine.
The artworks by students from a variety of participating schools will be available for public viewing in the ‘Photos’ section of the MMSA-SCOPH Facebook page. The public can also vote for their favourite artwork by ‘Liking’ their favourite drawing. This will constitute 50% of the points. The remaining 50% will be given by an adjudicating board. Winners will be announced on the 15th October and will receive fabulous prizes kindly donated by Agenda Bookshop. Like many other campaigns fostered by MMSA’s Standing Committee on Public Health (SCOPH), the Handwashing Campaign aims to ameliorate the public’s health awareness through promoting healthy practices, such as proper hand-washing, amongst adults and children alike.
