Structure of the Internet
Posted by: kaizenlog in Aspects of Web Development and Programming, tags: Structure of the InternetThe Internet is a large network comprising LAN and WAN technologies. Backbone services provide the link between continents.
Internet connections are made through Internet Service Providers (ISP’s). the web is built around the client-server concept. The protocol used is TCP/IP (Transport Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) and it is this that provides a common language for the various technologies.
All machines that connect via TCP/IP have an IP address. The address must be unique. An example of an ip address is 193.60.49.84
IP Version 6 is a model that makes sure that in the present and future, everyone and the person’s devices will have an unique IP address. IPV6 is backward compatible with IPV4.
