Today morning AD MEP candidates Yvonne Arqueros Ebejer and Arnold Cassola met people in Valletta to explain AD’s proposals for the European Parliament.
Yvonne Arqueros Ebejer said:€ ¢⒠’¼There are a lot of angry people who feel angry and betrayed out there. Some of them are saying that they will not vote, but the truth is abstaining is no solution. And protesting by abstaining is a zero-sum tactic that reaps no results. Rather than protesting, I believe that we are better off voting for an alternative voice to the others who have irked us. AD is consistent and credible on social, economic and environmental issues. Our proposals including that for a Green New Deal for the creation of 5 million jobs in the EU over the next 5 years are based on studies and are backed up by the experience of job creation by the Greens in the German Government. We are also consistent about clean air, unlike others who do not walk the talk. Everyone can vouch for Alternattiva Demokratika’s consistency with regards to European matters, and the party I am representing has always been a credible voice.”
AD Chairperson and MEP candidate Arnold Cassola said:”One should also mention that the European Parliament is not like the national parliament. It is composed of at least eight different political groupings. Electing an AD MEP means electing another Maltese who can influence a further 50 MEPs from the European Greens political grouping. This June 6, we are also electing six, not five, Members of the European Parliament. This is your golden opportunity to vote for AD and end 47 years of a suffocating duopoly which has rendered politics a tit-for-tat game of insults and counter insults between the other two parties. The real answer to those who have deceived you is not to abstain – if you abstain those people and parties will be elected anyway. The strongest way to pass on your message is to vote Alternattiva Demokratika. This is the only vote that will bring about a change in mentality and in the political climate in this country. This can be your chance to make sure that an AD MEP
makes it to Brussels. Deep down, many people know this. You probably do as well. If you want candidates and a party that have always placed the country first and foremost, before all partisan interests, then you are looking at AD. It is possible, and you can bring about change with your vote on June 6. The serious polls, including the poll commissioned by the European Parliament show that we can make it. Yes we can!.”
