AD WELCOMES EUROPEAN GREENS’ ROLE IN ENSURING MANDATORY BURDEN SHARING
Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party welcomes changes to the Dublin II regulations in the European Parliament vote on Thursday.
Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, stated: “The vote in the European Parliament crowns the work of Alternattiva Demokratika and The European Greens. It was Jean Lambert, Green MEP, who had first insisted in her report that the Dublin II regulations be revised to ensure that small countries like Malta be relieved of the disproportionate migratory pressure through mandatory responsibility sharing”.
“Now, through this mandatory responsibility sharing, migrants asking for asylum in Malta will be able to reallocate in different EU countries”, concluded Arnold Cassola.
