The Malta Medical Students’ Association is hosting the first National Peer Education Training for all future health care professionals interested in becoming peer educators for the term 2008 - 2009.
What is the NPET?
It is a three day training workshop that will allow you to become a peer educator and give training sessions on sexual education in secondary schools.
It will be held between the 3rd - 5th October 2008.
Skills you will acquire:
Co-facilitation skills
Public speaking skills
Group dynamics and behavioral change
Motivational skills
team building and project management
Theater-based peer education
Follow up of the training?
The follow up of this training will be facilitating comprehensive sexual education for a year in secondary schools. Provided adequate excellence in the field, peer educators can proceed to become trainers of peer educators in the future.
How to apply?
You need to fulfill two basic criteria:
1. 18 - 25 years of age
2. You are a i. medical student
ii. institute of healthcare student
iii. psychology student
or
You are a student who has previously worked in the field of Sexual and Reproductive Health
You will need to send a CV and Motivation Letter
Deadline?
The deadline for sending in your documents is the 17th of September. It is on a first come first serve basis with limited spaces available.

Why should you do it?
1. A certificate of participation will be awarded to each participant along with award certificates.
2. This training will allow you to become more empowered in your own life and also help empower your own peers through UNFPA approved techniques.
3. It will allow you to work on various skills including public speaking skills and facilitation skills.
4. Sex is still a taboo in our society, homosexuality is still stigmatized, the use of condoms is still highly unheard of despite the high trends of casual sex amongst young people. You can make change happen today by educating your peers.
