Yes - many of the 505’s in Malta were converted to in-line pumps taken from Leyland 400’s as the diesel does not lubricate the pump on the Leyland, whereas it does on an AEC and the paraffin would have dried out the AEC pump causing it to seize - hence the use of paraffin as fuel and that wonderful aroma of “TVO” that pervaded Valletta bus station!!
Another bit of Maltese skill that all added to the scene and which EU legislation is destroying.
