PR10/08/08 AD ASKS MALTESE PRIME MINISTER TO URGE EU PRESIDENCY TO INTERVENE IN RUSSIA-GEORGIA CONFLICT

Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Chairperson, is asking Maltese Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi to urge the EU Presidency to exert all diplomatic efforts with the Russian and Georgian authorities to end the bloodbath taking place in the Ossetia region.

Mark Scerri, Alternattiva Demokratika Spokesperson for International Affairs, stated: “Over 1400 people have been killed in a matter of a few days in what has become a fully fledged war. ��� Alternattiva Demokratika believes mature and responsible political leaders should heed the voice of reason. ��� Conflicts can only be resolved around the negotiating table and not under the threat of weapons”. ���
