AD discusses social realities with Appogg

A delegation of Alternattiva Demokratika made up of Chairperson Arnold Cassola, Secretary General Victor Galea, Spokesperson for Social and Economic Development Michael Briguglio and Spokesperson for Social Protection & Health Mary Anne Zammit visited Appogg Central Services in GwardaMangia and met Social Welfare Foundation CEO Mr. Joe Gerada and other Appogg officials.

During the meeting, Joe Gerada, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Welfare Foundation stressed the need for a national strategic plan for children, as well as the need to build community projects with the involvement of social agencies, residents and other participants in both Malta and Gozo.

AD Spokesperson for Social Protection and Health Mary Anne Zammit expressed the Green Party’s support of the work carried out by social workers and other public officials at Appogg. “More resources are required for Appogg so that it can cope with its heavy caseload, thus resulting in fairer working conditions for its dedicated staff”.

Chairperson Prof. Arnold Cassola expressed AD’s recognition of the work carried out by Appogg in relation to the welfare of families and children. Cassola also highlighted the need for more coordination between State policy makers and social researchers in order that social policies may be constantly updated.
