Planning starts with scheduling.
You must create a planning schedule with customer in advance.
Some of the reasons include:
- Database will be down during upgrade. A backup must be performed before an upgrade;
- If there is a data-conversion during upgrade, installation of upgrade will need to take place during weekends/offline hours.
Get as much help as possible from the Customer’s I.T. support.
Do as much as you can on your development environment.
Test everything locally before testing it on client’s location.
Always plan for contingencies.
