APPOINTMENT OF PERMANENT SECRETARY IN THE MINISTRY FOR RESOURCES AND RURAL AFFAIRS
The appointment has been announced of Dr Christopher Ciantar as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry for Resources & Rural Affairs. Dr Ciantar took up his appointment with effect from 17 April 2008.
Dr Ciantar joined the Ministry for the Environment in 1994 as Engineer in the Building & Engineering Department having obtained a B.Eng.(Hons) in mechanical engineering from the University of Malta. In 1996 he read for an M.Sc. in Building Services Engineering from Brunel University (UK).
Dr Ciantar obtained a Doctorate in Philosophy from Bournemouth University (UK), in 2001. He was appointed Head of the Waste Management & Sustainable Initiatives Unit in the same year and Strategy & Development Executive of WasteServ Malta Ltd in 2003.
In 2005 he was appointed Director (Environment Policy & Initiatives) in the Ministry for Rural Affairs & the Environment.
Dr Ciantar is married to Eleonor née Vassallo.
