Maltese Artist Presents Painting to London High Commission
Charles Bezzina, one of the four artists exhibiting at the London High Commission’s ‘4 for Euro’ exhibition of Maltese art at the Storey Gate offices of the EU Representative Office, has presented one of his paintings to the Malta High Commission in London.
The painting is a stylised reproduction of a photograph taken in spring 2004 of Mr. Bezzina’s fisherman interlocutors discussing the pros and cons of EU membership.
High Commissioner Dr. Michael A. Refalo thanked Mr. Bezzina for his generous gift and received the painting on behalf of the Malta High Commission.
Mr. Bezzina said the use of blue and red represented the choice between the tranquillity of accession and the impending turbulence had Malta opted out of membership.
The painting will be put on public display on the High Commission’s first floor.
