Alternattiva Demokratika – the Green Party Congratulates the Australian
Green Party.

Commenting about the results of the Australian Elections, the Chairperson
of Alternattiva Demokratika – The Green Party, Dr Harry Vassallo said that
“I would like to congratulate the Australian Green Party leader, Mr Bob
Brown for the excellent electoral result achieved by the Australian Green
Party .”

International Secretary Mr Mark Scerri said that “ the Australian Green
Party managed to obtain the support of more than 8% of the Australian
electorate. This result is even more meaningful, when one considers that
the Australian Political scene is dominated by two political parties, with a
first-past-the post system for the lower house”.

According to latest results the Greens have elected 5 senators, more than
doubling the number (2) in the previous legislature.

Dr Vassallo concluded by saying that “The spate of excellent electoral
results by Green Parties over the globe augur well for the future of Green
Politics.”

Alternattiva Demokratika also thanked the thousands of second and third generation
Maltese who chose Green. Real change can happen in Malta too.
