Oliver’s Challenge

In aid of

Razzett tal- Hbiberija

*      Wednesday 2nd August 2006Oliver Mangion completed a 2 kilometre swim at Razzett tal- Hbiberija’s Indoor Pool in 57 minutes & 10 seconds….

*      Friday 24th August 2007 – Oliver Mangion will be attempting what some might deem an impossible challenge. Oliver will in fact be making a 3 kilometre swim in the Indoor Pool at Razzett tal- Hbiberija. On this day…..Oliver will show that with strong will, courage and above all, love, nothing is impossible…!!! Of course any good, well trained swimmer can do this feat, but what makes this a real challenge is the fact that Oliver is an 11 year old swimmer with a disability.

Oliver Mangion, a regular user at Razzett tal-Hbiberija, was born with severe deformities on all four limbs and has since birth undergone countless reconstructive surgical procedures. His disability is an extremely rare chromosome abnormality and we only know another boy living in Portugal with the same condition

Asked about why he is doing this, Oliver said that he wants to help Razzett tal-Hbiberija raise funds for financial support, which in turn also increases awareness of the services offered, and hopefully encourages all those persons who have a disability, to do sports. Razzett believes and focuses on the ability of the person and not on the disability.

Anyone who would like to support Razzett tal-Hbiberija can send an sms on 50617359 to donate Lm1, 50618080 to donate Lm2, and 50618926 to donate Lm3. All donations are greatly appreciated because Razzett tal- Hbiberija depends on the generosity of the general public to sustain its services.

Everyone is invited to witness this amazing event that will be held at Razzett tal- Hbiberija on Friday 24th August 2007 from 16.30pm onwards. The challenge will take approximately 1 hour & 30 minutes.
