I recall reading about a street race too, but I doubt it would have been feasible. A coworker of mine from New Delhi said that the city traffic is far too congested as it is and the logistics of closing streets for the race would be horrendous. Not to mention the sacred cows. …

Re: Fox does F1 right - in HD
On the HD signal there was a wider field of view. It’s more like the SD was a down convert. F1 is filmed/produced in 16:9 SD since Australia 2007. Interesting. I’ve never heard of that format, it explains why the aspect ratio look correct but the detail level wasn’t up to HD standards. Still it’s better than 4:3.
