Elan is in the middle of a big investment cycle that is designed to raise output in its ski and yacht divisions. A EUR 2.8m construction of a facility for big yachts is already underway.

Matjaz Sarabon, the chief executive of Elan owner Skimar, said that the investments are designed to upgrade technology, raise output capacity and eliminate bottlenecks.

The new yacht production hall will be used for the construction of boats in excess of 20 metres. “This is the global trend and we are following it,” Sarabon said. Elan Marine has so far built only boats up to 13.5 metres (45 feet) long, which Sarabon said was a hampering factor.
