Ferry gliding

Ferry gliding is used to move the boat across the stream at an angle while keeping fore and fat movement to a minimum. It is useful when the gap you want to get into is tight to berth alongside conventionally.

  • Come to halt directly opposite your berth and use the throttles to stem the current.

  • Gently twitch the bow towards the berth. The current will now act on the bow to push you over.

  • In the last few feet, straighten the bow back into the current to slow the sideways movement.
