Beneteau Oceanis Range

Oceanis 40 and 46

The lines of the boats and moreover that of the coachroof windows portrays a strong message – the boats are smaller versions of the Oceanis 50 and in perfect proportion. On the white hulls, the grey fashion lines combined with the beige coloured bimini and sprayhood on deck are surely a noticeable departure from the traditional blue waterline stripe and navy blue canvases.

Just like the 50, the 46 and the 40 are designed to stand out wherever they are. The bathing platform is sleek, with enough room for a quick shower and ladder stowage. On the 46, the transom doubles up as a large locker in which a ten man canister liferaft can easily be stowed.

The wide door to the cockpit is a feature on both boats. Once inside the cockpit the similarity to that of the 473 is evident – the twin wheels, generous seating space and the roomy passageways around the large cockpit table.

An added feature is the swiveling chartplotter pod fitted inside the cockpit table, not to mention the optional lampshade that fits at the head of the table. On the way into the cabin one will notice the louvered wash boards that stow themselves neatly against the side walls of the companionway.

Once inside one senses a feeling of space and ventilation. The Nauta Design office in Italy have managed a very good mix of light, choice of wood, fabric and trims. On both boats the emphasis is in the saloon and the galley.

On the 46 the large settee combined with two movable stools can seat 8 people easily. The traditional island galley has also been well thought out, with its extension immediately adjacent to the main stairway which projects underneath the companionway.

On the 40, the twin aft cabin version has a linear galley which includes a deep fridge that comes with an electric drain pump. Storage space is good considering that there are four opening top cupboards and two bottom cupboards.

On both models the saloon head is large and has a separate shower compartment. It also has access from the saloon and the starboard aft cabin which makes it an ensuite head when necessary.

The forward cabin of the 40 is a traditional V berth with a head to starboard but that of the 46 has a semi island bed and a head to port complete with a separate shower compartment.

In the 46 the full and a half hanging storage lockers are generous.

Oceanis 43

The design and principle characteristics of both the exterior and the interior are similar to the 40 and the 46. She is available in three cabins as standard and in two cabins as from June 2007.
