This mic was fitted to the VM 3500E radio. The main set’s power button is coloured red and we were not keen on that because there is a chance that it could be confused with the distress alert button by the uninitatiated.

The remote handset can be used to switch the radio on and the handset’s button is clearly marked PWR (power).

The rubber flap over the side-mounted distress alert button was thought by all to be rather cumbersome and could be found in the dark only by feel. Despite being roughly the same size as the other handsets, the mic just did not fit the handin the same way as the others.
